I know this isn't 5 stars but I love this 4 star hotel. Venice is very expensive and perhaps if I could afford a 5 star hotel in Venice I would stay in one.
Who knows, perhaps one of these days I will win the lottery!
Until then this hotel is pretty near perfect as it gets and it is easily as good as, or better, than many of the so-called luxury Venetian five star hotels. So, if you are asking the question "where should I stay in Venice?" then this hotel is the answer. Everything is nearby and St Marks Square is only a little way off and an easy walk. There are plenty of restaurants within a stones throw of the hotel.
The rooms are very big, especially for Italy where hotel rooms and especially the showers tend to be minute. Here there is tons of space, showers are huge, and the rooms are exquisitely furnished.
Do yourself a favor and ask for a room with a view. They do cost a little bit more but it is well worth it because the view of Venice is something you sure aren't going to match when you get home.
In my view this is the best 4 star hotel Venice can offer.

Andrew's reply: The Liassidi Palace Hotel does have a great reputation. You are not the first person to tell me what a wonderful hotel it is.
That photo of breakfast at the hotel, alongside the canal, is so beautiful - you made me long to be there right this moment :-)
By the way, my wife Maria has put together a list of the three or four luxury hotels in Venice we can highly recommend.
Perhaps you could give one of these hotels a try next time you visit Venice and please do let me know if you agree with us.
